As Liaison to the parks and Recreation Department, Peter lead the private fundraising effort which saved the 2009 4th of July fireworks!
Peter continues to work diligently to increase Town revenues through fostering the construction of cell towers at public owned locations and the enhancement of existing recreational opportunities.
A fiscal
conservative, Peter helped institute long-range planning to the budget process
and a phased approach to infrastructure repair. In the past two years, as a
minority member of the board, he has been a leading advocate of budget-process
reform and a watchdog over such ill-fated programs as CountyLegacy funding for CrossRiver.Peter believes in protecting Lewisboro’s Home
Rule powers and will fight to ensure any County mandated housing will be
appropriate for Lewisboro.
Proposed and voted for a change in Town Law to include Fire and Ambulance volunteers as a official eligibility priority category for middle income housing. Passed September 19th 2006.
Shepherded inherited pool project to ensure compliance with State and County regulations, made sure the rebuilt pool qualified for competitive use, and got the facility open in time for the 2006 camp season. After the Successful First Season Peter continues to be the lead councilperson for the project.
Worked with Supervisor, Board Members and Town Consultants to complete the application before the Planning Board pertaining to Leon Levy Sub-division.
Worked with Supervisor, Board Members and Town Consultants to improve upon the design of the proposed parking for the Leon Levy Preserve in order to accommodate School Outings and Horse Trailers.
Shepherded Little League Park Press Box and ADA compliant rest room construction at Lewisboro Town Park during the winter and spring of 2006. Now the Lewisboro Baseball Association can be the hosting field for official tournament play, and the Town Park has a ADA approved facilities!
Worked with Supervisor and fellow Board Members to achieve a 0% tax increase Budget for 2007. The entire Board unanimously passed this budget and was proud to say that this budget put in place significant measures for improving Lewisboro's deteriorated roads.
Worked with Supervisor and fellow Board Members to achieve a 3.9% tax increase Budget for 2008. The entire Board unanimously passed this budget which continues to apply fiscal conservatism while putting in place measures to improve Lewisboro's infrastructure.
Worked with entire Town Board to secure a low 3.9% interest rate for $3,165,000 in Bonds over 2007 & 2008 for Road and Bridge Repairs. The resolution was passed unanimously on May 1, 2007. This will allow the Town to repair the roads that are in the worst condition throughout the Town.
Instrumental in insuring that the Silver Spring Road Bridge was declared an emergancy project and repaired as quickly as possible. This small but vital briodge was finally replace and reopened during the winter of 2008.
Instrumental in passing a Board resolution in committing to support the expansion of the South Salem Library and giving them a new home in the Town Park while working to archive ADA compliance by taking over their former building for Town Offices.
