Peter DeLucia has dedicated his career to public service. Since his election in 2005, he has brought an extensive knowledge of public administration, environmental regulations and code enforcement to the Town Board. With his commitment to the practical, fair and effective enforcement of Town regulations, Peter has been regarded as one of our most experienced and hardest working Council members. His unique combination of educational, professional and volunteer experience makes him an invaluable asset for our town government.
Peter’s efforts over the past three+ years were key to the successful completion of projects including the town pool renovations, new construction at the Little League field in
Town
Park, and the implementation of a more user-friendly regulatory process for both homeowners and local businesses. As we all know, cell service in our town leaves much to be desired and Peter has been villigiant to make sure the town continues to move forward to achieve town wide coverage and that the revenues from all new towers goes to decrease our taxes! Peter continuously takes a leadership role in the budget process supporting fiscal conservatism. He also suggested and helped implement a budget that delivered a phased approach to begin repair our dilapidated roads. He looks forward to completing work with state and local officials to facilitate the Library’s move to a new facility in
Town
Park; a move that ends a decade-long year impasse and that will allow Lewisboro to achieve long-awaited
ADA compliance by utilizing the existing library building. With a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and 16+ years in County Government, Peter pledges to use his knowledge and expertise to make sound decisions for Lewisboro.
In January of 2006 Peter began the first year of his 4 year term as Councilman and has continually garnered respect from his constituents, Town Officials, Supervisors, and fellow Board Members. Now in 2009, Peter needs you support on November 3rd to be re-elected to his Council seat so he to continue working for you!
A Westchester County employee since 1993, Peter is currently a supervisor at the Westchester County Health Department where he is responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of State and County Health Codes. Peter also assists in the implementation of a Lead Paint Primary Prevention Program that proactively inspects dwellings in Yonkers to protect children from becoming lead poisoned. Before his election to the Town Board in 2005, Peter served on the Town’s Conservation Advisory Council from 2002 to September 2003. From 2003 to 2006 he was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, where his fairness, dedication and common sense garnered praise from both colleagues and the homeowners who appeared before him.
When West Nile Virus initially became a public health hazard, Peter was a Team Leader and Quality Control Supervisor during the seasonal West Nile Larviciding and Surveillance program. Peter responded to sensitive community complaints, including from lake associations concerned about larviciding in storm water catch basins close to their lakes. As a media spokesperson for the program, he has appeared on Inside Edition, CBS, ABC, and Channel 12. In addition, he has Supervised the Administrative Hearing Office of the Westchester County Department of Health, trained Food Service Inspectors and Children’s Camp Inspectors, and assisted in the management of the Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act Program. Peter also enjoys hosting various informational shows on Lewisboro's own public access Cable Channel LCTV channel 20. You can see him host such shows as "Dining Out in Lewisboro" and "Inside Lewisboro Town Government".
Peter and his wife Kim, are 14 year residents of Vista, where they have pursued their passion for sports and the outdoors, and have been active members of the community. Their 4 year old twins, Justin and Lauren are already enjoying the many educational and recreational opportunities Lewisboro has to offer. For many years, Peter has been a coach in the Lewisboro Parks & Recreation Department’s women’s softball league and you can still find Kim and Peter out at Onatru Farm Monday nights throughout the season. Peter's parents are active seniors and also live in Lewisboro. As a homeowner, taxpayer, and parent, Peter is mindful of what the residents of Lewisboro expect form their town officials.
Peter holds a BA from SUNY-Albany, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Pace University. He is also a member of Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society in Public Affairs and Administration.
