Bio

 

Peter DeLucia has dedicated his career to public service.  Since his election in 2005, he has brought an extensive knowledge of public administration, environmental regulations and code enforcement to the Town Board. With his commitment to the practical, fair and effective enforcement of Town regulations, Peter has been regarded as one of our most experienced and hardest working Council members. His unique combination of educational, professional and volunteer experience makes him an invaluable asset for our town government.

Peter’s efforts over the past five+ years were key to the successful completion of projects including the Town Pool renovations, new construction at the Little League field in Town Park, the implementation of a more user-friendly regulatory process for both homeowners and local businesses, spear-heading the private fund rasing campaign to save the Town Fireworks display that continues to offset the cost of the event year after year, facilitated the installtion of environmentally friendly waterless urinals at the Town Pool and our Town Parks, and fostered the legislation for a construction of a cell towers on Town land where the revenues are a direct savings for the tax payers of Lewisboro!   Peter continuously takes a leadership role in the budget process supporting fiscal conservatism.  He also suggested and helped implement  a budget that delivered a phased approach to begin repair our dilapidated roads.  He looks forward to completing work with state and local officials to facilitate the Lewisboro to achieve long-awaited ADA compliance.  With a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and 18+ years in County Government, Peter pledges to use his knowledge and expertise to make sound decisions for Lewisboro. 

In January of 2006 Peter began the first year of his 4 year term as Councilman and has continually garnered respect from his constituents, Town Officials, Supervisors, and fellow Board Members.  Peter was re-elected in 2009 to serve a second term as Councilman.  In 2010 Peter was appointed Deputy Supervisor by Supervisor Charlie Duffy.

A Westchester County employee since 1993, Peter is currently the Assistant Commissioner of Health at the Westchester County Health Department where he is responsible for the Bureau of Public Health Protection.  Before his election to the Town Board in 2005, Peter served on the Town’s Conservation Advisory Council from 2002 to September 2003.  From 2003 to 2006 he was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, where his fairness, dedication and common sense garnered praise from both colleagues and the homeowners who appeared before him.

When West Nile Virus initially became a public health hazard, Peter was a Team Leader and Quality Control Supervisor during the seasonal West Nile Larviciding and Surveillance program. Peter responded to sensitive community complaints, including from lake associations concerned about larviciding in storm water catch basins close to their lakes. As a media spokesperson for the program, he has appeared on Inside Edition, CBS, ABC, and Channel 12. In addition, he has Supervised the Administrative Hearing Office, Lead Primary prevention, West Nile Virus & Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act Programs of the Westchester County Department of Health, & trained Food Service and Children’s Camp Inspectors.  

Peter also enjoys hosting various informational shows on Lewisboro's own public access Cable Channel LCTV channel 20.  You can  see him host such shows as "Dining Out in Lewisboro" and "Inside Lewisboro Town Government".  In the fall of 2010 Peter had the oppertunity to appear on the Dr. Oz Show in a segment called "Would your Kitchen Pass Inspection?" as a seasoned Westchester County Food Service Inspection Officer.   Dr. Oz invited him back for a second appearance in the spring of 2011 to discuss "Second Hand Health Hazards" and how to avoid them.  Peter teamed up with Dr. Oz once again in October of 2011 to uncover "Hidden Hazards in your Home".  Peter is routinely called upon by the major networks as an expert to discuss current issues pertaining to public health.   

Peter and his wife Kim, are 16 year residents of Vista, where they have pursued their passion for sports and the outdoors, and have been active members of the community. Their 7 year old twins, Justin and Lauren are already enjoying the many educational and recreational opportunities Lewisboro has to offer.  For many years, Peter has been a coach in the Lewisboro Parks & Recreation Department’s women’s softball league and you can still find Kim and Peter out at Onatru Farm Monday nights throughout the season. Peter also coaches LBA baseball and John Jay Lacrosse!  Peter's parents are active seniors and also live in Lewisboro.   As a homeowner, taxpayer, and parent, Peter is mindful of what the residents of Lewisboro expect form their town officials.

Peter holds a BA from SUNY-Albany, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Pace University. He is also a member of Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society in Public Affairs and Administration
